Waterfalls in Maui
Maui is known for its dense landscapes, tropical rainforests, and spectacular waterfalls. As a first-time visitor or a returnee to the island, you must see the waterfalls. Set into the island’s green valleys and cliff sides are these natural wonders, which range from secret to very visible. From a quick picture stop to an all-day hike, Maui’s waterfalls have something for every taste.

01
Waterfalls on the Road to Hana
The Road to Hana, which is a legend, is what you should take for Maui’s best waterfalls. This scenic drive, which travels the island’s east coast, takes you through a dense jungle that includes bamboo forests, lava tubes, and dramatic coastal views. Along the way, you will see many waterfalls, each with its character. A few miles in is Twin Falls, which is a must-see first stop. Also down the road, you will come upon Three Bears Falls, also known as Upper Waikani, which has 3 side by side cascades.

Hana Highway Waterfalls
The Hana Highway is a journey beyond what your average road trip is. It is an experience that puts you in the middle of natural beauty at every mile. Waterfalls are a major reason that makes this trip so special. Popular stops are Wailua Falls, which is a tall and pretty cascade right by the town of Hana, and Hanawi Falls, which you usually see right by the side of the highway. These waterfalls are easy to get to and great for taking that perfect picture.

Road to Hana 7 Pools Maui
At the end of the Road to Hana, which is a popular tourist route, you’ll see the likes of the Ohe’o Gulch, which is what most people call the Seven Sacred Pools. In the Kipahulu section of Haleakalā National Park, this series of waterfalls and ponds is a great stop to stretch your legs and take in the natural beauty. Although swimming access is at the discretion of park rangers based on weather and safety issues, what you see from here is well worth the trip.

Waterfall access on Maui
Not at all do all of Maui’s waterfalls require a hike. We have that which is very convenient right off the road, which is along the Hana Highway. Twin Falls, Wailua Falls, and Upper Waikani Falls are all very accessible by car, which also has parking areas and short walking paths. These roadside falls, which you may visit without going into the jungle, allow you to see the island’s natural beauty.

Waterfalls in Maui to visit and swim
For certain, the best way to cool off in Maui is to visit one of the many waterfalls, which are great for swimming when the weather is right. At Twin Falls, which is a short hike from the road, you can get in a very refreshing swim. Also at Pua’u Ka’ahway State Wayside Park, we have small but very swimmer-friendly falls. Also, check for flash flood warnings and be sure to follow all signs in order to have a safe time at these tropical swimming holes.
